The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) completed a significant renovation and addition in 2023 to its engineering college on campus with the Scott Engineering Center and Link Project. This extensive undertaking involved renovating and expanding two key buildings and revitalizing the Engineering Research and Scott Engineering Centers. The project is centered around a commitment to innovation and collaboration, showcased by state-of-the-art lab equipment, modern classrooms, and flexible mixed-use spaces.

Tune Facilities played a vital role in this transformation by providing comprehensive Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Envelope Commissioning Services. As UNL’s indefinite-scope commissioning partner, Tune Facilities ensured that all systems operated efficiently and effectively, in line with the university’s high standards for educational environments.

The commissioning process included careful oversight of various critical systems critical to the facility’s design. These encompass heating systems to maintain a comfortable learning environment, advanced air handling and cooling systems for optimal climate control, and HVAC controls that allow for precise adjustments based on real-time needs. Additionally, plumbing water systems were inspected for reliability and efficiency, while lighting fixtures and controls were evaluated to create an inviting and productive space for students and faculty.

The project covers a substantial area, with 68,000 square feet allocated for renovation and 3,600 square feet for new construction. Located in the heart of Lincoln, Nebraska, the revitalized centers enhance the university’s technological capabilities and reinforce its commitment to providing a top-tier education in engineering disciplines.

The partnership with Tune Facilities has been crucial in ensuring that every detail aligns with the university’s vision, paving the way for future innovations and discoveries in engineering.
