Behavioral Health & Wellness Center (BHWC)

Children’s Nebraska | Omaha, NE

The Behavioral Health & Wellness Center (BHWC) marks a significant expansion of the specialty care services offered by Children’s Nebraska, further advancing its commitment to comprehensive, child-focused healthcare. Located at 8501 West Dodge Road, this new facility is dedicated to raising the standard of care for behavioral health services in the greater Omaha region.

Strategically positioned at the western edge of Children’s contiguous campus, the building’s design harmonizes with the architectural language of the nearby Hubbard Center for Children. The facility is thoughtfully divided into two distinct areas: a four-story, Group I-2 institutional wing on the south side that houses inpatient behavioral health services, and a two-story, Group B business wing on the north side for outpatient clinical services. BHWC will serve children between the ages of 5 and 18, offering a safe, healing environment designed specifically for young patients.

Commissioning & Optimization Services

To ensure optimal performance, safety, and sustainability, our team provided a full suite of commissioning and building optimization services, including fire alarm and security commissioning. Systems commissioned include:

  • Heating systems

  • Air handling and cooling systems

  • HVAC control systems

  • Plumbing water systems

  • Lighting fixtures and control systems

We also performed thorough witness testing during the startup and commissioning emergency and backup systems, ensuring the facility operates reliably under all conditions.

This project reflects a collaborative effort to support the mental health needs of children and adolescents through a state-of-the-art facility designed for care, resilience, and recovery.
